Analysis Of Title Sequence
The title sequence of Zombieland is quite interesting, as it has everyday people dealing with the initial outbreak of the virus, it shows people fleeing away from them such as the girl with the milkshake. As well as people and cops fighting them such as the man in the white tuxedo shooting the zombies.
The font and colours of the titles is very dramatic as it is all caps and bright red like the colour of blood and danger, which would further display that this is a horror movie with graphic content.
The use of the titles being connected to the footage in a 3D perspective is really eye catching as the people in the intro interact with the titles such as the man with the crowbar smashing the window with the Zombieland title on it. All of the titles in this sequence move in 3D space and rotate around the screen which increases the attractiveness of the titles and leads the audience to be more attentive to the names and roles in which are being shown.
The Typography of the titles are of Bold capitals that are very easily readable, they use a Metallic Blood Red colour for the letters, this gives the viewer visual clues to show that it is a horror movie and it is gory.
There are lots of different camera angles in this sequence, the Medium Close Up of the zombie spitting blood is effective as it shocks the audience and brings them into the world of the dead before the film has started. They use Wide Shots to show the entire action happening and to show its surrounding being normal everyday situations to show its realism.
The sound used in this title sequence is of a rock / Heavy Metal type to represent the action of the scene and the anger and relentlessness of the Zombies.
The lighting in the scene is naturally light in the daytime to show that Zombies are scary during the day not only during the night and can eat people at any time.
The costumes used in the scene are very effective, the zombies having the blood soaked ripped clothing shows that there was a struggle when they were bitten and when they have tried to bite people, the uniforms such as the police officers and fireman getting killed shows that the world has been turned upside down and there is no government to support and save people, meaning that its every man for himself in the Zombieland world.
The editing from shot to shot is using fading out into the next shot, this is very seamless and looks very clean while using slow motion like they did in the title sequence.
